Introduction

MGC Civil contracted Perth Underground Power to undertake a pivotal project within The Orchard Private Estate in Midvale, focusing on Stage 7. The scope involved delivering and installing a complete underground power network together with an Opticomm pit and pipe system for a Greenfield subdivision comprising 21 residential lots. This work formed a critical foundation for establishing a modern, well‑connected community within the growing Midvale area

Challenge

With a budget of $125,000, the project called for our team’s expertise in the planning, development, and installation of both the power and Opticomm infrastructure. The scope included the installation of Western Power cables and assets, supported by a fully integrated Opticomm network. A key challenge was delivering a reliable and efficient power supply to all residential lots while ensuring seamless Opticomm ‑ready connectivity—achieved within a demanding four‑month program

Solution

For Stage 7 of The Orchard Private Estate in Midvale, our team applied its strong background in greenfield underground electrical works to deliver a customised approach. Engaged by MGC Civil, we utilised  equipment such as excavators, hauling winches, crane trucks, and Front-End Loader to carry out the installation of the underground power network and the Opticomm pit‑and‑pipe network. This method ensured all Western Power and Opticomm requirements were met while accommodating the specific needs of a 21‑lot subdivision.

Results

The works were completed within the planned four‑month timeframe and aligned with the $125,000 project budget. Each of the 21 lots received a dependable underground power supply, supported by an integrated Opticomm system that enables Opticomm ‑ready connectivity. Strong coordination and efficient issue‑resolution throughout the project contributed to a smooth and timely handover of both electrical and telecommunications infrastructure.
